Outfit Video

Hello dear readers! How are you today?

Maybe you have already seen it, but I have made an outfit video.

I put together six different summer coordinates, as the warm weather has arrived here in Tokyo.

It's the first time I've made a video like this, and I'm really pleased that it has got a good reception so far! Between my poor editing skills and the geriatric condition of my laptop, I'm afraid the process caused me some tears, but it was worth it in the end.

Here is the finished product!

And here is what I wore:

Tokyo Metropolis

Hello dear readers, hello from Tokyo!

Today I'll tell you about the Versailles special anniversary live, Tokyo Metropolis.

Remember my 'rock kei' outfit from a little while ago? I went for the same sort of look with a more elegant atmosphere. I used the same hairstyle. I wore my bisque doll onepiece from Juliette, though in this photo the print is sadly washed out.

~Rundown~
Onpiece: Juliette et Justine
Tights: Vivienne Westwood
Others: Offbrand/Handmade

The live was in Liquid Room in Ebisu. I got a bit lost and couldn't find who I was supposed to meet, so I just followed some people who looked like they were going to a concert and sure enough I got there, and, thank goodness,  met my friend too.

D were the first to play, wearing their Dying Message costumes. My friend later observed "Wow, you really changed when you saw your drummer...." Haha, yes I'll confess I'm a big fan of D and particularly HIROKI.  I feel like he's a very reassuring sort of person, so with his presence and knowing their songs and furi quite well, I suppose the result was a complete evaporation of my natural shyness. I hope I didn't look too mad, but anyway I had an amazing time!

Moi dix Mois were next. There was an almighty audience reshuffle of fans getting into their desired places (ie in front of Mana). I was very excited but a bit apprehensive too. I've spent so many years admiring Mana, what would he really be like? Well, the answer is he's beautiful and just as I thought he would be, but with the added bonus of a guitar with a light-up cross that flashed blue and red. He looked into the audience most of the time, giving us lots of opportunity to admire his lovely face! I really do want to see Moi dix Mois many, many times more and get to know them better. So, I'm very very very glad to have a ticket for Deep Sanctuary III in September!

Me and the lovely Angelica! She's a long-time fan of Mana.
Her straw hat is soooo cute!

Versailles were last, and it was obvious that the majority of the audience were there for them. I loved Kamijo and LAREINE for a long time, so I always want to be more of a Versailles fan, but few of their songs really capture me. Even so, I enjoyed their set. It was a huge contrast to their live in London last year when they were obviously rather tired; tonight I think they were at their best. Kamijo was wonderfully flamboyant and Teru and Hizaki were really cute! Something about Teru's face makes me want to laugh.... it's a good thing though!

During the MC, the bands all expressed their friendship and admiration for each other, and Kamijo talked about his time as a Malice Mizer roadie. Sadly I could only understand bits and pieces, but it seemed very heartfelt and I feel so glad to have been there on such a special occasion. It would have been nice if all three bands had been on stage together at the end, and I did expect it, but it didn't happen. Perhaps it would have been a bit of a squish with all those hairstyles and costumes.

I'm also really happy to have found some new friends! Everyone I've met has been so kind and friendly. Tomorrow I'm going to a lolita meet up, so I'm sure I'll find even more good friends there!

Thanks for reading,

Bisque Doll in Blue

Hello dear readers! How are you?

In five weeks time, I'll be taking my flight to Japan. It's very exciting! I want to pack my things up right now, but I think it's a little premature....

Today I'll show you my outfit for my friend's dinner party. He's a blogger too!

~Rundown~
Onepiece- Juliette et Justine
Sweater- Vintage
Everything else- Offbrand

It's a very simple outfit, so I added blue tights to make it just a little more unusual. Also, I parted my fringe to the side for a change, I sometimes do that if the event calls for a more formal and elegant look.

My friend's name is Jack, and he has adventures in museums! Do take a look at his blog:

Hope you liked my outfit!
See you next time,

Anniversary photoshoot preview

Hello everyone! How are you? Hope you're having a nice weekend.

Elegant Poupée is coming up to it's first anniversary in January! I can't believe it, somehow it's passed so quickly. So quickly, in fact, that this blog has had virtually the same layout all it's short life. I decided that the time was ripe for a change, so I set up a little photoshoot at my house to make a new blog banner.

Here is what I wore:

~Rundown~
Onepiece- Juliette et Justine
Blue corsage- Handmade
Everything else- Offbrand

A bonus silly picture:

Expect the new look Elegant Poupée in January!

A vision of summer (according to the bus driver!)

Hello eveyone! Hope you all are well.

Yesterday I had a very nice day shopping and having lunch at Teddy's again. I wore a blue and white outfit to include my new broad-brimmed hat. I took the bus into town and the driver said that I looked like a "vision of summer" and wished he was 21 again! I was very flattered and thanked him. I didn't mention that I'm 23!

Hat, blouse, bag- Vintage
Shoes, tights, gloves- Offbrand

Thank you for looking!

Brighton Japan Festival

Last weekend I took part in two Lolita fashion shows as part of Brighton Japan Festival!

~coat is by Innocent World~

I arrived at the festival quite early somehow! I had a chance to eat some takoyaki before the show. I don't know if it's my absolute favourite food, but it must be somewhere in the top ten! I'm really fond of Japanese mayonnaise too. All mayonnaise is good, but JP mayo is more eggy, and therefore the best!

Now you know how greedy I am, on to the first fashion show! This was the "Sweet Lolita Catwalk"; you've basically seen my outfit before but for the show I changed my hairstyle to a shoulder-length wig and my shoes to the plain white mary-janes, to make it even more ama-loli!

JSK- Metamorphose
Bow- Handmade
Everything else- Vintage and offbrand

My lovely friend, ichigo_shock, who organised the catwalk, also provided us with these cute balloons!

I always get nervous about this sort of thing, but once I was on the stage I really enjoyed myself! The audience were very smily and nice, so I think that helped.

All the Sweet Lolita models came out together at the end. The other girls all looked so amazing, and I loved how everyone had their own style! I felt very inspired seeing their wonderful coordinates, and I want to try harder with my own, especially with accessories.

You can see the wonderful Herajika in the picture above, looking as usual as if she leapt from the pages of GLB! In the strawberry dress is azura_mel, one of the prettiest girls I've ever seen <3

There was a gap between this show and the later one. I took the opportunity to look around the festival. There were quite a few things going on. and a fair few people, though the weather was rather grey and dreary. This somewhat mis-matched couple came to soak up the atmosphere:

Too cute!

On to the second show, the Gothic Lolita Catwalk! This one was also really fun; I tried to channel a bit of 'vampire romance' into my walk.

OP- Juliette et Justine
Tights- Vivienne Westwod
Corsages, sash- Handmade
Everything else- Vintage and offbrand

I don't really have many strictly Gothic items, but I did my best and I think this coord could be called "Classic-Gothic" at least! A bit difficult to see in these pictures, but I wore a sheer blouse, chiffon sash and lace tights. Please use your imagination!

I changed my wig too! I haven't worn wigs before, only extensions occaisonally, so I was a little apprehensive of them falling off my head into the terrified audience. Luckily they stayed on! And they kept my little head nice and warm too.

With beautiful Herajika again (she made that bonnet! So talented!), and you can just about see a glimpse my friend Wing's fabulous gold shoes.

I had a lot of fun at the festival! I hope you enjoyed the pictures. See you again soon!

Dinner party....

Necklace- Innocent World
Onepiece- Juliette et Justine
Everything else- Offbrand
~

I wore this coord to a dinner party. It was with non-Loli friends who I don't know too well, so I tried to keep my look quite 'normal', haha. I do try to be a bit considerate in these sort of situations, because sometimes people can be a little embarrassed to be seen with a flamboyantly dressed person. Of course it's their problem more than mine, but it's also not my dinner party!

With this coord I tried to stike a balance between what I'm comfortable with and what will not stand out too much. To be honest, the very light colours probably made this outfit a bit too outstanding. I do like it  a lot though!  I think it looks clean and innocent, and not overly formal, so I'm pleased with it for that. This onepiece is beautiful in it's simplicity, and I always feel like it's a special occasion when I wear it. Here's a snap without the cardigan:

I'm wearing a long-sleeved lace cutsew underneath. It's less stuffy-looking than a blouse (though I admit I'm a blouse addict!) but still pretty and not too casual for such an outfit. Most importantly, it helped me not to freeze to death on a February evening!
~

For the future, I think the key points to 'normalizing' Lolita clothing would be:

1. Wear dark colours, especially black.
2. Do not wear a blouse.
3. Dark tights or bare legs rather than socks.
4. Shoes from a mainstream brand rather than shoes which are specifically Lolita.
5. Try to avoid items with a lot of lace trimmings.

Essentially, you should eliminate those elements from your outfit which are particularly old-fashioned or childish.

What do you think, reader? What are your suggestions? The next time an occasion like this comes up I'll try to follow the suggestions and I'll show you how it goes!
~

Oh, and a piece of exciting news!

I'm going to see D play in London in May! I can't wait! What am I going to wear though?
