Kawaii International 1 Year Anniversary

Hello dear readers! Happy Easter :)

Do you know about the program Kawaii International?

It's a really nice show about Japanese fashion. If you haven't watched it, I really recommend it! It's usually on once a month, and you can see more details here:

Program web page⇒ http://www.nhk.or.jp/kawaii-i/

They just celebrated their 1st anniversary! They made a special show for it, and showed some of the viewer contributions they have had such as competition entries. They talked about my entry for U Kimura's handmade competition! I took some screen shots.

My photo is next to Cadney's! *starstruck*

I entered my handmade bonnet (tutorial here).

This is actually one of my favourite coordinates that I have ever put together, so I am really happy that they showed it. Thank you, Kawaii International! And thank you for reading, too.

Puffy twin tails tutorial

Hello dear readers! How are you?

Did anyone see Saoirse Clohessy's classic lolita article in MyM magazine? Here's my photo from the article:

What do you think about my hairstyle?
If you'd like to try wearing it yourself, you can follow this tutorial:

Here are the instrcutions:

1. Separate hair into two low ponytails.

2. Take one of the ponytails and tie it off about 6-10cm down.

3. Tease the section of hair you have created outwards by gently pulling it with your fingers to create volume.

4. Tie off another section and tease it out in the same way. It is easiest to do the teasing section by section.

5. Continue the process until you have a tail of 6-10cm left at the bottom, and repeat on the other side.

Good luck if you try it, and thank you for watching!

KERA snap again!

Hello dear readers! How are you?

When I got up yesterday and looked out of the window, I was amazed by....

SNOW!
Quite a bit of it has melted now, but it was quite magical for a while. On the same day, it snowed in my home down too. And my parent's central heating broke down.... not so magical.

I have something nice to share with you, mine and Aviva's twin outfits got into February's KERA!

Yay! In fact, Aviva's in this issue twice; she was snapped along with two of my other friends at another event. Quite an achievement! I'm very proud of all of them :)

That's all for now, but there'll be a longer post coming next time!

Thanks for reading,

I got into the Marui snap!

Click the picture to make it bigger. I'm on the top left!

Yes, my little photo is in January's KERA! I can't tell you how happy I am.

I always looked at these snaps and dreamed about being featured. Now my wish has come true!

I recognise some of the people I saw that day, like the super cute AP twins on the bottom left of the page (you'll have to check the magazine itself I'm afraid). Everyone looks great and I'm so thrilled to be included!

If you come to Japan when a KERA snap is on, I really recommend you go and show your support for the magazine. You might see your photo soon! Just check KERA for the dates and locations.

Now I want to see if I can make more of my wishes come true!

See you next time,

Hat, waffles, twins and snap!

Hello dear readers!

It's been a while since my last post. I had a wonderful time with my mother during her visit, we managed to travel about quite a bit and have all sorts of Japanese experiences, like onsen, autumn colours viewing, visiting a temple and so on. I think she enjoyed herself a lot, and even discovered that she likes sashimi!

Today's post is a collection of a few odd photos I have gathered together, and after this I'll start to show you the pictures I took on my travels with my mother.

First is an outfit for shopping wearing my new red hat:
Hat: Bought at MYLORD
Onepiece: Handmade
Socks, Bag: Metamorphose

MYLORD is a shopping building in Shinjuku, owned by Odakyu. It contains a lot of cute girly fashions, like L'est Rose, franche lippée, and my favourite f.i.n.t.

Recently there was a lot on mention on the news about La France, a special kind of pear, coming into season in Japan. To see what all the fuss was about, I ordered La France waffles in a cafe in Isetan!

It was nice, very juicy and sweet, but quite a lot to get through. And they served the tiniest cup of tea :(

Next up is my first time as a Lolita twin! Aviva and I have the same Gobelins print in different colours, so we did colour-swap twinning. We wore this outfit to the KERA snap.

She has a dark brown hat and shoes, and I have light brown, and her blouse and tights are bordeaux and mine are blue. It was a bit tricky to take the mirror shot, and I can't figure out why I kept looking off to the left like that O.o It is very simple to look at one's own reflection, after all!

I loved being twins, and we're planning a wintery version of these outfits for the future, yay!

Finally, here's my photo in a Japanese magazine!

My friend and I were street-snapped in Harajuku last month (you might recognise the outfit).
We both got into the magazine, happy happy! She looks very lovely in her snap.

Thanks for reading, and hope you enjoyed the pictures.

See you next time,

Starlight magazine interview

Hello dear readers!

I was recently interviewed by Danish online lolita magazine Starlight. The interview was published in this month's issue.

I hadn't heard of this magazine before, but I had a look at the back issues, and they're so nice!

Danish lolitas are amazing and beautiful :D

Here's my page in September:

It's cool to see my words in Danish!

The interview was conducted in English, so I thought I would share the original here so that English speakers can also read it:

Hello! My name is Sapphira. I am 24 years old and I've been interested in lolita for about seven years. I'm originally from England, but I live in Tokyo. My favourite style is classic lolita.

How did you find lolita, what gave you the final "push" to start?
I first heard about lolita fashion when I was 17 or so, through listening to the band MALICE MIZER. I felt very inspired by their style, and I started to incorporate some lolita and visual kei taste into my everyday clothes right away. It was not a sudden change for me, but over the years as I found out more about the fashion my style gradually changed to being more and more lolita.

What was your first lolita purchase?
It was a lucky pack from Metamorphose, containing a blouse, pink skirt, bloomers and socks. I still wear the blouse and bloomers sometimes, I gave the socks to a friend and I'm keeping the skirt for memories, or to give to my daughter if I have one. It's too sweet for my tastes now!

What is your favorit lolita style and why did you choose that one?
It's definitely classic. I like to see lots of different styles, but classic is the one that makes me happiest. I love historical clothing and classic lolita is very historically inpsired.

Where do you find inspiration for your outfits and style?
From many places, such as magazines, films, animation, music, books, and from other lolitas whom I admire.

How does Lolita affect your everyday life?
I think it changed my perception of the value of clothes.... for instance I feel very shocked by the prices of jeans and t-shirts! Lolita clothes are so beautifully detailed and lovingly designed in wonderful materials, how can we be expected to pay so much for plainer clothing? I think a lot of lolitas feel the same!

What is your favorite activity "outside" of Lolita?
I love music, especially visual kei, classical, and songs from muscials. I'm always searching for new music to listen to. I love writing my blog too, but I think that counts as "inside" lolita.

What is your favorite thing about living in Tokyo as a Lolita?
Of course, number one is the shops! The other nice thing is that there are lolitas from all over the world living, working, studying, or holidaying in Tokyo, so I've had a chance to meet a lot of new and interesting people.

Do you have any advice for both newbies and oldies in the style?
If you are just starting out in the fashion, my advice is to take your time and enjoy developing your personal style. Lolita has brought me a lot of happiness, and I hope it will be the same for you too! For experienced lolitas, I think we occasionally feel a bit tired of the style for one reason or another. If it happens to you, take a break from wearing lolita, or read a magazine about another type of fashion. Soon you'll remember what made you fall in love with lolita and find your inspiration again.

Doing the interview was really fun, and I'm so happy to be featured in this lovely magazine. Have I really been into Lolita for so long? I can't believe it! I should be better dressed by now XD

You can read the magazine online here!
