Lolita Exhibition in London: Kitty and the Bulldog

Hello dear readers! How are you? Hope you are enjoying the weekend.

Have you heard of the current lolita exhibition at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London?

Both my friend and I couldn't attend the big meet up to see it last weekend, so instead we went to see it yesterday. It was great fun to catch up with her, and you know, the exhibition was really quite good! 

It was quite small, but free of charge, and I think the curator made a very good choice of outfits to represent different styles. The focus of the exhibition was illustrating the influence British fashion has had on Lolita fashion (hence the name). Here are the pictures I took:

As you can see, it was not only lolita that was represented, but rather the whole contents of Shinjuku Marui One! My absolute favourite was the final kimono, so cute and lovely, and the fabrics were beautiful.

I'm happy that our beloved fashion is displayed here in London, and being treated seriously instead of dismissed as 'crazy Japanese stuff'. Maybe some new lolitas will be born after seeing this exhibition!

Country Classical Lolita

Hello dear readers! How are you?

This weekend I was spending time with my three close friends. Happily I will see one of them in Japan in a month or so, but it will probably be a long time before the four of us are all together again. Oh, it's rather sad! It was a wonderful weekend though :)

Today I'll show you my most recent coordinate. I wanted to wear my handmade bonnet again, and I combined blue and brown together for a slightly non-traditional look. 

~Rundown~

Bonnet: Handmade

Blouse, gloves: Vintage

Jumperskirt: Innocent World

Basket: Disney Sea

Everything else: Offbrand

I thought that today's coordinate matched the background particularly well. The basket, bonnet and lace gloves give a bit of a 'country loli' feeling.

I feel the need for a fluffier panier these days! I will put mine in the washing machine today I think, that should help a bit.

Rock x Classic.... maybe?

Hello dear readers!

Thank you very very much for all the lovely comments on my last entry. I was so happy to read them all :D I'll keep you posted on any further news!

Today I have a new coordinate to show you. I really want to try some new things with my style, and try to incorporate different influences into classical kei lolita.

Now, I really love rock music, but my image is very much a that of a 'good girl'. Not just my image in fact, but me! Yes, I'm definitely a goody two shoes, not rock'n'roll at all. However, I think I can find a middle ground that I'm happy with, and try my version of rock style....

~Rundown~

Pierce, lace tights- Vivienne Westwood

Blouse- Vintage

Skirt- Metamorphose temps de fille

I wore a skirt with a classical print, and coordinated with a blazer for a masculine edge. I also wore a vintage blouse with deep ruffles for a gorgeous effect.

I made an attempt at mori (voluminous/piled up) hair; my natural hair has a fluffy texture anyway, so I did an easy version and just pinned it all to one side. I like the effect actually, if I do it again I'll aim for more volume at the top and add some hairspray.

On the 'hairless side' I pinned one pale blue and one dark blue rose to match the ones on my skirt. 

So readers, if you were in a rock band, which part do you want to be? Vocal, guitar, bass or drums? 

Personally, I'd like to be the vocal! And I would like a mic stand decorated with blue roses..... What a shame I have no talent at singing!

Classic Outfit...and an annoucement!

Hello dear readers~

Today I'll show you an outfit, and tell you something exciting!

This time I wanted to make a really classical outfit. A high-collar onepiece is typical classic lolita. Oxford shoes and argyle print socks keep to the traditional, prim effect. The print of the dress includes little red flowers, and I picked these up by adding bordeaux to the rest of the coodinate.

Now for my announcement.....

This summer, I am moving to Tokyo!

This is something I've wanted to do for a very long time, and finally the timing is right. I'm feeling rather sad to be parting from my friends and family here in England, but I'm looking forward to joining my friends there and meeting up with new people. I will stay about one year, and see how I do.

 I will be studying Japanese for the first few months, and I'll look for a job so I can save up and do some travelling. I want to visit Hokkaido, Okinawa, Hiroshima, Osaka, Kyoto.... lots of places! I love Japan, and I'd like to see as much of it as I can. 

I can't wait to start my Japanese course! I started to study Japanese by myself when I was 16 or so, and I had evening classes at SOAS for a couple of terms while I was at university. I've been taking evening classes once a week since September at a college here in Sussex, but it is very difficult to make much progress studying that way. In Japan I'll have lessons Monday to Friday, so with hard work and effort on my part I hope I'll improve my level quickly. 

I'm also looking forward to going to lolita events and seeing my favourite bands. And those two most important activities- shopping and eating. It's going to be tough on my wallet, being surrounded by wonderful shops and beautiful clothes! 

 Of course, I'll keep blogging while I'm there. Thank you all for your lovely comments over this past year or so. I'm really enjoying getting to know you through this blog, and I hope you'll continue to follow me in the future. This is a very exciting step for me, and I hope this blog will become more exciting too!
