Hello dear readers!
Today I have just a simple coordinate snap for you. It's the first time I've posted a picture of me in this dress! It was a present from a dear friend of mine and I love it very much. Because of that, I wanted to make sure that when I posted it, it would be an outfit I'm proud of.
So, here it is:
~Rundown~
Hair ribbons- Metamorphose
Blouse- Anna House
Necktie- Vinatge
Jumperskirt- Jane Marple
Tights, shoes- Offbrand
The mini-length and graphic style of this Jane Marple jumperskirt reminds me of the 1960s right away. These days we might think of free love, psychedelia and drug-taking when we think of the 1960s. Personally though, what I like about that era are it's more innocent aspects, and in fact there are quite a few!
Some of my favourite movies were made in the early '60s: Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Mary Poppins, The Sound of Music, My Fair Lady. As well as that, the popular women of the 1960s had a more girlish air than that of the previous decade; slim and delicate creatures like Twiggy and Audrey Hepburn. In fact, it was a time when girls could be girls, and were free to express their cuteness! That's a bit in common with our Lolita spirit, isn't it?
With this outfit I tempered cuteness with primness. Black accents add a bit of hardness to the baby-doll cut of the dress, and while the blouse is frilly the necktie is formal.
I hope you liked my coordinate! What are your thoughts about the 1960s? I'd love to hear them!
See you next time,
Sapphira

I have an obsession with hippie movement and style, so your vision of the 60s is quite different from mine XD And I don't like so much Twiggy and Audrey because they're slim and delicate creatures XD
ReplyDeleteHowever I like you, your style and this outfit ;D
Well, I'm very glad to hear that you like me! There's a lot to be said for hippie style, and I admire any group that tries to stand out and make a difference, even if it doesn't fit with my aesthetic tastes. To be honest I would never be cool enough to be a hippie XD but I'm in awe of people who are!
DeleteCute! I like the blue and black together! :) I think the stripes on the skirt make it interesting, yet simple.
ReplyDeleteI don't have a lot of influence from the 60s' but I agree with your point of view on there being a sense of innocence in that era, but still very chic!
I think the styles back then were so iconic , like the hair, colors, and such, it's funny because in modern times we don't seem to have that aspect anymore. Since there is so much different influence our time, we no longer seems to have that one iconic/central "look". Even the 80's and 90's had their own style/flavor that everyone remembers.
You know what I mean? ^^; I prefer to have the freedom of my own style of course, but you can't really pinpoint a style to our times like in the past since there is so much variety. :)
I wonder if in a couple of decades we might be able to look back to know and realise what the 'definitive look' was, but honestly I'm inclined to agree with you that at the moment there is nothing particularly striking about, and no cohesive look.
DeleteI do find it a bit strange that here in England there doesn't seem to be a home-grown street fashion scene any more. This is the place that invented teds and punks and mods and all sorts, which all did their bit to define certain eras, but now....
Wow, that dress is just darling ♥ Such a nice color as well, and the combination of the light blue and black suits perfectly. You look just like a doll!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I really like the combination of light blue and black, I think it looks very fresh and bright.
Delete♥♥ WoooW ♥♥ you are so Pretty i love your dress *()*
ReplyDeleteThank you very much, I'm glad you like it!
DeleteYou're a dream!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely thing to say, thank you!
DeleteOh it's an adorable dress! It really suits you Sapphira! :-) The sax and black colour scheme definitely has a youthfully elegant air about it to me.
ReplyDeleteFor me it was actually 60s mod fashion that got me interested in fashion in general when I was a young girl, so I have great fondness for that era! I like a lot of sixties films as well, I suppose it was the last decade for the golden age of movie musicals really, wasn't it?
Thank you very much :)
DeleteI agree with you about the musicals! How did you get to know about mod fashion? It's interesting to hear how people found the things that they love!
Oh you're most welcome!
DeleteWell my parents are a little older than most for my age group; they both were teenagers in the 60s and would mention mod fashion on occasion. My dad was a bit of a mod himself, my mum was a little young at the time, but she has older sisters who used to wear gogo boots, miniskirts etc.! I grew quite curious and when I was 11 or so I looked everything up in more detail. Since then I've been rather hooked! :-)
Your parents sound so cool! Did you inherit any 60s clothes from your aunties? That's also my father's era, but I don't think he was very fashionable XD
DeleteI always thought they were, but I think they'd be happier to hear it from someone else, haha!
DeleteOh I'm afraid not, all of my mother's family are Canadian and so they live over in North America, I don't really have very close contact with them. ☺
Haha, well my dad hasn't always been too fashionable either, I've seen evidence of a rather unbecoming perm in the 70s!
Really, your outfit is just jaw-droppingly perfect! You look just like a dolly - I cannot fathom how envious I am!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure there's no need to be envious, but thank you very much for your kind compliment :)
DeleteI love this dress , it's sooo cute ! :)
ReplyDeleteI follow you , maybe you can take a look to my blog ?
