Looped Braids Hairstyle Tutorial

As requested, I've put together a little tutorial! I really enjoyed making it, and I hope to make another in the future.

Please try it out, and if you have any suggestions for improvements, let me know in the comments.

D live

Hello everyone! I wasn't going to touch this blog until my work is handed in on Tuesday, but I had such a great time seeing D that I want to write about it while the memory is still fresh.

I LOVE D!

I actutally haven't been to any lives before, so though I was excited I was a bit apprehensive too. I'm a very reserved person and I thought I would end up standing stock-still like an idiot throughout the whole thing.

I did freeze up a bit at first, since seeing them on the stage made me shy (I didn't realise Hiroki was so handsome! It doesn't come across much in photos, but in real life....). However, very soon it began to feel as if the crowd and the band were connected, and I lost myself in the perfomance. Asagi was wonderful and his voice never faltered. The whole band were really energetic and seemed to be putting their all into it.

The lovely friend I went with recommended that we buy D flags, since she saw them in Japan and was the only one without flags! I was glad we got them, since the flag dance was one of the best bits for me.

For my outfit, I tried to reflect D's vampiric theme, in black, blue and white. I didn't have time to take a good outfit shot since I had to rush from uni, so apologies for the mirror shot in my housemate's room.

~Skirt is Metamorphose, everything else offbrand~

The waistcoat, cravat and high-collared blouse make my outfit a bit sharper than usual I think!

For my make-up I used blue eyeshadow in the crease to make it more showy, and pick up the blue in my skirt and earrings. I was thinking to use false lashes but I didn't want them flying off in the middle of the concert.

As well as the flags, I got a gorgeous coffin-shaped USB!

It's so well made, though as it's metal it's rather heavy. I had one of my flags signed at the suprise autograph session afterwards!

While Tsunehito was signing my flag, I looked over to Asagi and he gave me the sweetest smile! All the band seemed to be very happy to be there, and I really felt that they are such nice people. It was wonderful of them to come to London, and to give their very best even though they were only playing to about 100 people.

I want to see them again before too long. Thank you, D!

Blonde memories

Hello everyone! The comments you left in my last post got me really thinking about my hair....

My natural hair colour is jet black, but you may have noticed in some of my photos that the ends are a very dark, reddish brown. The reason.......

It used to look like this!

Something like hay, basically.

However, it was fun being a blonde! It made a big change, since for most of my life my hair was long, black and centre-parted.

You see, when I was a sixth former I discovered Visual Kei and Lolita, and when I left school decided to bleach my hair and cut a fringe. At first I bleached it brown (Merveilles-era Gackt phase) then after a year or so lightened it to blonde (Lareine-era Kamijo phase). Of course, it takes a lot of bleach to go from black to blonde (or yellow in my case) and so although I have very strong, coarse hair it did get rather damaged. It looks ok in this picture, but it wasn't super flattering!

When I took this picture it was the first time I wore Innocent World (lent to me by the lovely friend I was staying with at the time), and I think it was on this day that I realised how much I adore Classic Lolita style. Another big change was in order! Just a couple of months after this I began to seriously collect Classic items, and had my hair dyed back to it's natural colour. Unfortunately very bleached hair doesn't absorb dye easily, so the browny bits of my hair are the previously blonde parts. It's grown ever so much since then! Not quite enough yet though, I still want it longer.

Well, that is the saga of my hair. I promise a tutorial of what I do with it these days will be coming up!

See you next time, and thanks for reading!

Retro coordinate

Hello everyone!

My time at university is drawing to a close, and so as you can imagine it's a very busy time for me. My final hand-in is in less than two weeks! I can't wait to see my collection finished, but the pressure certainly is on. Well, hopefully I'll be sharing a photograph of all six outfits with you before long!

I've also got the D live coming up this week! I've had a little break from work this evening and done a trial run of my outfit. I think it's a bit different from my usual style! For now, here's a 1950s style coordinate I wore over Easter to dinner with family friends.

~All vintage and offbrand~

I found this pretty polka dot dress at a vintage market in London's Brick Lane for just £5! It was in a bit of a sorry state and needed a lot of fixing, but actually I love to do that sort of thing so it suited me very well! Although this outfit has a retro effect, this JSK can work well in a Lolita coord too.

Oh, I wanted to say a special thank you to the reader who made me a Valentine a little while ago! I really do appreciate your sweet sentiment, and I feel a great deal of happiness to receive a lovely Valentine. Thanks so much for taking the trouble to make one for me, it means a lot to me.

Until next time then!

With love from Sapphira
